Nixon University Celebrates World Mental Health Day

The World Mental Health Day was celebrated this year on the theme of “Mental health and older adults”. People around the world made contributions in their own way. Most educational institutes carried out informative sessions on mental health among older adults and its importance in society. Many volunteers made trips to nursing homes to spend some time with the inmates and get to know about their needs and problems better.

At Nixon University, the School of Psychology carried a special online session that covered topics relating to mental health in older adults. Specialists, including Nixon University faculty members spoke about the need for more awareness in this regard and the steps that can be taken to make their lives more comfortable. Students were made aware of the common mental illnesses and their causes in older adults and preventive measures that can be taken. Several students of Nixon University from countries all over the world shared their experiences on the celebrations of the World Mental Health Day this year.
The World Mental Health Day was observed this year amid a lot of enthusiasm from students, doctors and social workers alike. Senior citizens expressed their delight in being treated with special attention. It was a source of learning as well as a humbling experience for the students to visit these older adults and get to know about the kind of life they are living, the treatments they are receiving and what can be done to make their lives easier.

Nixon University has always encouraged its students to take part in such activities so that their exposure to the world is enhanced. Nixon University students are known for their caliber and initiatives and taking part in such activities will add to this quality.
