Ways to become an inspiration for others

If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader. - John Quincy Adams

Leave your ego behind
If you really want to become influential, let your actions speak for themselves. It’s a timeless saying that still holds true today, but if you are doing great at something you don’t need to tell, you efforts always show and inspire others.

Think Big, Think Better!
Thinking big is not only about being inspirational to more people it’s also about the image and impact you have on others.  Don’t settle on making slight changes in a person’s life if they need a total makeover.  Instead, aim to change the whole thing.  Look to encourage in many areas instead of just one.

Be Expressive
Passion is impressive you must have and be willing to express it if you really want to motivate others.  You can gain a lot of influence just by public-ally expressing that you are thrilled and passionate about a topic.  You make it much harder to motivate others if you are boring an unenthusiastic

Stay Positive
The method of inspiring others comes without any negativity.  To get past this, you must stay positive, work past failures, and present optimism openly to others no matter what the conditions are.

Nixon University Live the Future wants to spread the message of education and humanity this campaign is an initiative towards a better and brighter tomorrow.

Personal Management – A Key to Success

It is not only important to understand the significance of personal management or at least this article is not ideally meant for the purpose. The aim of this article is to help you figure out how small and easy steps can help you with better personal management that will consequently lead you to your desired goals.
There is one assumption that we make before moving further; personal management is as important and as vital to success as strategic management. The reason why this is safe to assume is because it is a well-managed person who leads to a bigger, organizational success; hence, the person has to be managed first.
Coming back to our objective of making it happen, there is one change in perspective that is vital to growth and success; today is all I have to make it happen! This does not mean that we start believing that there is no tomorrow but rather what it implies is to be as productive and valuable as s/he can be on a particular day. Once you are on the path of productivity with distractions minimized, here is what the easier part is.
Peter Bregman, who is an adviser to many CEOs and their teams to tackle priorities, suggests the following:

1.       Set Plan for Day: Before you start your day, sit down, relax, sip your coffee and set a plan for your day (writing it down is preferred). This should help you in listing down the things and filtering out what to prioritize and otherwise.

2.       Focus: Follow the list. Check your list every hour to evaluate how productive you have been the last hour. The aim of this exercise is to help you re-focus on the tasks you prioritized, filtering out the distractions.

3.       Review: At the end of every day, review your list to find out how productive have you been today to check and mark your success on the right lines. This should help you for a better tomorrow.

Why we at Nixon University believe that this area needs greater emphasis is because Time and Personal Management are becoming more of an art in the modern day scenario and thus it is imperative to manage yourself better and making full use of the time that you have.

What a Top Performer does that others don't...

Do you ever wonder why we end up checking our Facebook account when we should be working instead? The answer is an overtaxed mind which might also be lacking some essential training.
The next thing we ask ourselves is how do we overcome this problem, the answer is simple but we need to dedicate some time towards this essential training and REST!

A study conducted recently that examined top performers suggested that it is their ability to focus on the defined objective, their un-matched stamina to train their body and mind regularly and systematically combined with the time they dedicated to rest that enables them to give out their best in the field; be it athletics, composing music or their workplace. The study aimed at proving that the common practice of giving up rest with the expectation of utilizing that time to finish the job at hand is actually a flawed approach altogether.

During the study, it was also found out that Susan Butcher who was a veterinarian’s assistant and was well aware of the physical strength of her dogs trained them for four-to-six hour spurts and allowed them to rest of the same time, earned her team a four time win in the race at the takes place in the Arctic and is measured at 1,100 miles.

The point is to understand the importance of work-rest-work-rest cycle as the differentiating factor rather than to be over-occupied with just work or rest to perform well both in the short as well as long-run.
Experts suggest that one should always keep in mind the limit to which a body and mind can be put to work to ensure appropriate levels of attention and performance. Although the fact remains that one can take help from meditation to strengthen the brain muscle. From the perspective of cognitive science all meditation methods are methods to train attention. An increasingly popular method to grow the power of the brain’s circuitry for attention is “mindfulness,” a meditation method stripped of a religious belief system.
Other methods include solutions such as ‘lunchtime stops, during which employees are allowed to go home, have a hearty meal followed by a nap, ideally so as to ensure performance later in the day.

What You Need To Know Before You Decide Your Career Path

It seems all very well to choose the most trending industry for your ultimate career path, especially when a lot your peers are getting into it as well. The trouble starts when you get in and realize it really is not your cup of tea. You might have thought you could pursue a career in public relations but then you realized you really weren’t into the whole publicity and event management scene. You were actually a lot more interested in digital marketing and working your magic form behind the scenes, using the anonymity afforded by the internet. The trouble is by the time you had this realization in full, you had already completed your education or were halfway through it. You had not only wasted your time but also years of your life pursuing a career in a field that you realized wasn’t suited to you.

This is the story of not one but many students around the world who fail to make this professional realization sooner. The result is loss, both financial and personal. A career choice is not one that can be made lightly. It requires a lot of thought unless you are already aware of your propensities and know you can do something. Before you make a choice, consider the following tips (compiled by the Nixon University Career Center):

  • Do some soul searching. Find out what your strengths and weaknesses are.  Find out what you are good at. This way, you will be able to judge better what you can and can’t do.
  • Choose a field that matches your abilities. There’s no point in trying to become a cryptographer when you are bad at math and complex logic. Unless you can really change that, look for other options no matter how attractive the other may seem.
  • Do a little research about the field you are considering pursuing your career in. It will give you a good idea about what kind of jobs and opportunities you can expect in it.

At Nixon University, students are always encouraged to ask for career-related advice from the counselors who are always available to guide the students in the best way. Such tips are useful in saving time and as well as making you think twice before you make a wrong choice that will result in loss.

UN Montreal Protocol Helping to Slow Down Melting Ozone Layer

The ozone layer is a layer in the earth’s atmosphere that is responsible for absorbing most of the Sun’s heat in order to keep the planet from overheating. This is very necessary in order to maintain a balance in the Earth’s temperatures and ensuring that they remain tolerable for human, animal and plant life. For the past few years, however, the ozone layer has been depleting at an alarming rate due to the increased production of greenhouse gases and chemicals that are harmful to the ozone. Use of products containing chlorofluorocarbons, like aerosol sprays, are also on the rise and with the increase in population, more and more people are using these products.

The thinning of the ozone layer has caused several climatic and environmental problems for the planet. Several areas of the world now have longer and hotter summers. Glaciers and icecaps have started melting at accelerated rates, causing water levels of oceans, seas and river s to rise around the world. In certain areas this has brought flooding and disaster as water reaches uncontainable levels.

Because of the far reaching effects of the diminishing ozone layer, countries all over the world meet regularly to propose measures to control the situation.  The UN Montreal Protocol has recently proved to slow down this thinning of the ozone layer. The Protocol states reduced usage of products containing CFCs around the world, a measure that has brought with it positive results. A recent study showed that without the Montreal Protocol, the Earth’s surface would be 0.1 degrees Celsius hotter. This study was shared among all the students of Nixon University. The treaty is helping to slow down the drastic depletion of the ozone layer and contributing to making the planet more environmentally healthy. Awareness about the importance the ozone layer and global warming and the threats it poses to our planet has increased and countries are paying more attention to taking stringent measures to help control the situation.

At Nixon University, students of Natural Sciences study issues such as these in depth, while students of other departments are also provided with such information so that they may know what is going on in the world.  This is done so that students of Nixon University may be able to contribute positively to solving world problems. This is an indication of the University’s indication of commitment to producing quality human resource that can work for the betterment of the environment they live in.
